questionnaire to about 80 folks in kansas and missouri! i'm posting this
to the list to show you all what we're up and so any kan/mo lurkers out
there will be notified of our plans! feel free to copy these and contact

K.C. METRO PHOTOGRAPHER'S ASSOCIATION
                  
KCMPA is Kansas City's most active camera club! We have meetings, field
trips, workshops, gallery showings, a web site, a monthly newsletter,
equipment sales and guest speakers regularly! And, as if we didn't
already have enough stuff to do, we're starting a stereo division in
KCMPA!

Hi! My name is John Baird and I'm co-chairman of KCMPA with Rodney
Shelley. We've been involved with this group since we started in 1987.
I've been doing stereo photography since 1992 and am the owner/operator
of Creative Stereography studios in downtown KC. I specialize in 3D
abstract light painting and take shows of this experimental work to the
NSA convention yearly!  I use an R.B.T. X2a fully automatic full frame
stereo camera with 28-70mm zoom lenses.  I'm a member of  NSA and
several SSA folios and also ISU!  I avidly read  around twenty  Internet
postings daily on the  Photo-3d  list!  So, you see, I've the stereo
bug, REAL bad (or good)!!

I emailed Larry Hess of NSA to get this list of Missouri and Kansas
members.  I was surprised to find sixty five folks on the list which
brought my total list to around 80!  About forty of these people live
within two hours driving time from Kansas City and around 20 are local!
Sounds like a good base of folks to start an active stereo camera club,
so that's what we're up to!!

We plan a group that will interest both the stereo collector and the
stereo photographer. At this point we're thinking about having informal
meetings every other month. Stereo division members would get the
regular KCMPA newsletter monthly that would include a "3D News" section,
and they would be able to participate in all KCMPA activities (meetings,
field trips & etc.). Dues for the stereo members would be the same as
regular full privilege members ($21/yr). Additional family members can
be added also ($13/prsn/yr).We have a special limited privilege
membership which provides the newsletter and the invitation to attend
field trips ($8/yr). Plans for the stereo division are not set in
concrete yet and we're open to all suggestions.

We're including a questionnaire that will help us get to know your
interests.  Even if you are not interested in joining the group or live
too far away to attend, PLEASE fill out and return the questionnaire.
We'd like to keep in touch with all the folks that get this letter for
future reference.  We're mailing you folks in Wichita and St. Louis too,
because we believe there are stereo clubs there, which we'd like to
contact.  It would be great to plan events that would include getting
together with other groups! Mary Ann Sell (VP., NSA), told me that as
soon as we get our group going great guns, we could host the mid west
national NSA convention, here!!  Let's wait a while for
that!
