In an earlier message you sounded like you did not have time
to breath, not to mention shooting 3d and cleaning viewers! :-)

Some people have suggested baking soda. I would just just scape
the junk out. The contacts are not coated and are a mess any
way. Use fine sandpaper to polish them at the end. Don't forget
to clean the switch contact. That's a very common cause of
light flickering. One contact is at the top in the form of a
cone. Run the sandpaper around it. The other one is at the
bottom, two clips accepting the cone. Clean these using
straight strokes back and forth with the sandaper.
