>From what I've read, the Melissa virus is spread via MS Word document
macros.  In other words, you can only be infected if you receive a message
with an attached, infected Word document AND if you open that document.  If
you don't open it, nothing can happen.  The message itself can't infect
your system because it's not executing anything.

Also, every single mail message you read is "downloaded."  Your aol server
collects your mail for you, and downloads it to your computer when you
request it.  It has nothing to do with the length of the message.
