1. The 116 and 716 models use different slide carriers (some later 116s
   use the 716 carrier but this is not common)

2. The 116 carrier is thicker and has 40 mm wide square apertures
   (will show 7p and 8p)  Also, it has a back channel for two 2x2 inch
   full frame slides.  Also, uses the "barn door" to block the light
   between slide changes.

3. The 716 carrier is more sophisticated with built in curtains and 
   slimmer but it is only one inch (25 mm) wide, hence it will block 
   even 7p images.

4. The selectron carrier without an adapter will only fit the 716 model.
   It will not fit the 116 model.

5. There is an adapter, essentially a thick plate that goes over the
   716 carrier and will make it fit in the 116 projector.  This adapter
   is usually used in combination with the Selectron carrier in a 116
   projector, but it could also be used with a regular 716 carrier.

6. The "Project or View" takes the 716 style carrier.  This explains your
   observation that the 116 carrier does not fit in the PorV but the
   Selectron carrier does.
