I think the screen *is* made of ground glass, or at least it is on my 2-D
Project-or-View (Model 260). There is some uncertainty about exact the
nature of the ground surface and/or the process used to create it.
I think the chemists agreed that due to internal striations caused by the
forming process, plastic *would* depolarize. Some on this list however
have reported good results using frosted drafting mylar, which is a
plastic, albeit fairly thin. My own testing with mylar exhibited too much
ghosting for my tastes.
