P3D VM double exp. (was Realist to VM)

Roderick D. Sage , in commenting on Realist to
VM duplication comments:
>Unfortunately the VM has no double exposure capability,<
Just to note- the VM mark2 does have double exposure
capability- you just hold down the wind-on lever when
shooting, then shoot again. this feature is useful when
you want to take VM hypers. You cover one lens (home
made lens cap) shoot keeping a finger on the wind-on lever
so it doesn't spring up, then swap the lens cap to the other
lens, move to new position, compose carefully and shoot again.
I think I recall Wolfgang Sell, who is very knowledgable on such
things, once telling me how to achieve a double exposure
with the VM Personal as well. I seem to recall it had to do
with some clever jiggling of the winding knob.
Of course at 75 pairs to the roll >wasting< a couple of exposures
in VM format is hardly a major problem.
As to the original thread of >Realist to VM conversion<,
I think the only satisfactory method is to take some original
VM shots with a VM camera. I can't believe that anything else
will be satisfactory. Similarly the easiest way to dupe VM
to VM format is the one suggested by Sawyers themselves
in their handbooks - take extra shots at the time.
Kind regards,
John Bradley
