P3D Comby light attachment owners

I recently acquired one of these beauties, and would like to 
hear from any owners who use it with rechargeable 
batteries. I understand that the current draw of the twin 
lamps is very high, but I'm only getting about six 2 minute 
viewing intervals after a full charge with the original 1200 
mAh batteries. Since the instruction sheet mentions a 30 
minute period of NiCad battery use, I'm curious...
