P3D re: high-end V-M viewers

I use a deWijs View-Master®-format viewer as a reference for our work at
View*Productions, and I think it is an excellent instrument, offers
individual eyepiece focusing and interocular adjustments, but not
without mechanical and ergonomic flaws. The $600 price might put some
folks off this unit.

I personally don't have experience with the latest Dukes viewer, but
must wonder what advantage 12X magnification brings to V-M viewing, as
most V-M reels barely stand up to the 8X test of the deWijs. Any
thoughts from users of this viewer?

I also use a cleaned up, halogenized Model D as a workhorse. It offers a
useful combination of focusing adjustment, high magnification (7X ?) and
even, built-in illumination. The factory optics is not nearly as good,
though, as the deWijs.
