Hello all,
I have read all the comments about Kodak and what to do or not to do so
I thought I'd pass on my most recent conversation with Kodak Customer
Service.

Since I took Friday off, I had an opportunity to talk with Kodak's
Customer Service. I first talked with the lady about my bill for
$4.20. I explained that my slides were stereo and that I sent them in
with a mailer. I described the mailer (36 exp slides, etc...) and she
told me it had a value of $X.XX (whatever!). I said "Yes, I know and I
included a $4.20 check to cover the remaining amount". She said, "Well,
you just write that on that bill you have and send it back to them care
of <So-and-So> in Customer service. Very nice and understanding.

I then mentioned that my slides were mounted incorrectly and she
actually sounded disgusted at the technicians and, again, told me to
send them back with an explanation.

Now, what am I going to do? Well, for starters I took apart a couple of
the mounts to understand exactly what they did wrong. The chips are on
the proper side (left chip on left, right chip on right), they're just
flipped over. My plan is to review all the slides, remove those I
absolutely do NOT want to lose (Easter pictures and family shots in the
Bluebonnets) and send the rest back c/o <so-and-so> explaining what is
actually wrong technically with the mounting job. Additionally I will
praise their previous work and let them know that I appreciate any
efforts they may be able to take to resolve the current mounting
situation.

I do not want them to discontinue their stereo mounting service as I
appreciate the fact that they still do it. I would not be able to enjoy
my stereo photography experience as much if I had to do my own mounting
as I really don't have the time right now. And, don't tell me how much
time it does/doesn't take. I know I would probably enjoy mounting my
slides and after tearing apart a few of the heat-seal mounts, I can see
just how easy it could be. Still, the convenience of having it done for
me is worth it right now. $12.08 for processing and mounting is the
price I pay to buy back the hour or so it would take me. And, I use
that time to read to my boys in the evening.

And, if they don't or won't correct the problem, well... I guess I'll
just have to try my hand at mounting slides!

Regards,
Ron
