Let's clarify our definition of "do processing", shall we?
All of the Ritz camera stores I've been in (three or four) had a minilab
*in the store*. I define this as "doing processing".
Ewert's (RIP), a "pro" audio-visual establishment, accepted film for
processing, but sent it out to Kodalux and Fuji. Most supermarkets and
drugstores (though you might find the exception again with a
self-contained minilab) at least send it to a centralized location, if
not to Kodalux and/or Fuji.
Except for the origination and destination point (i.e. the retailer) and
method of transportation, I don't see this as being any different that
mailing your film out. There's a third party involved.
