Just to add a bit on the topic of 3D X-Rays. I have a World War I medical
book (printed in 1916) titled "Localization by X Rays and Stereoscopy" by
Sir James MacKenzie Davidson. (It would take six or seven lines to list his
medical qualifications).

The technique included viewing relatively small X-Ray prints in a Holmes
type viewer to assist in the location of bullets and bomb fragments.

In the days before modern medical imaging (particularly CAT) this seemed to
be a valuable diagnostic tool. The more than 20 images in the book are easy
to interpret and would have been of considerable assistance to the surgeons
tasked with removing the foreign objects.
