P3D Voltage Curves

How do the voltage curves differ with alkaline, Ni-cad, lithium ion, and
nickel metal hydride batteries? I understand that the lithium batteries
deliver full power until depleted, and Ni-cad and alkaline steadily drop
in voltage until depletion. Is this correct? I'm trying to determine
what type of batteries to use in my flash ( if I want rechargeables) and
why digital cameras for example cannot use Ni-cads? Tech 3D is OK if
not proper to discuss here, Thanks.
