Well, well.
Seems everyone was taking me quite seriously on the floating of that
linguistic balloon! I'm glad to hear that so many places use the term, and
I gotta say it really sounded familiar to me, just rolled right off the
lips, as I was contemplating my email subject line two days ago.
Now that I have confirmation of the very broad popular use of the term,
looks like I need to fear no more (treading on someone else's intellectual
property, that is). Just you all remember who coined it in the world of
stereoscopy, OKAY!?
I'm still a bit shocked that no one has used the technique before. I
appreciated Ray Zone's input especially, though I think his description of
the "flattening" of the curve in the R-channel is not entirely accurate /
perhaps too much of a simplification of what is happening. The method
certainly is simple, but there is something more complex going on with the
colors, I think.
Anyway, I'm just having a good time, and am glad to share it with you.
