Here is a first cut at an explanation. I am sure otehrs will add more.

Hyperstereo Image - A stereo picture with a separation between "taking"
lenses greater than the average human eye separation. This can be used
to amplify the 3D information in an image. It is especially handy in
situations where the subject is very far away and would register as
essentially flat in a "normal" stereo photograph - ie monuments or
natural landmarks.
