Soapbox?
One of the characteristics about "organizing" is agreeing to standards
and rules. Microsoft does not follow agreed upon standards. When MS
makes up its own different approach, it doesn't share.
The deal was to have http servers provide mime type information. There
is an entire system for doing this. It is the way it was agreed upon
to do it. Server tells client; client responds either with the
application or information to the user.
IE does it differently - but it also only recognizes the file header
info MS wants recognized. Erode the standard.
MS isn't leading to a better way - they are leading to their own
self-interest. Need I mention Java?
...and more on the subject. adding the line to the .htaccess file worked
as it was designed to do. The agreed upon way.
Thanks.
