P3D Viewing Methods

Dr T raises a curious point comparing slides in a viewer vs projection
to determine best results etc. How many folks enter slides in a
projection competition without previewing them in a projector? I
purchased my TDC 116 for this reason. I was startled how certain slides
appeared so differently in projection. I began to consider certain
criteria that I could look at in the viewer, and translate in my mind
what the image would look like projected. This is very difficult or
perhaps I am too inexperienced at this stage. Has anyone developed the
talent to select their top images without projecting them first? I seem
to be able to visualize placement of objects at and through the stereo
window, but I am often surprized by the graduations of depth and
placement of objects when projected.
( even at ortho seating) Previewing without a projector would certainly
be a talent!
BTW....I'll shoot more prints and preview the index prints with the
Viewmagic and let you know when I fail to select the best images by this
method. And of course this time I'll keep my finger off the lens during
the other 23 shots.:-)
