I was just informed the Stereo Vivid initially came with German lenses.
Anybody out there know how common these are? How do the earlier lenses stack
up against the later? I take it the difference is clearly marked?
thanks J

I posted a TDC vivid last week on S3D and someone responded with this
description of the lenses in the viewer...which IMHO are the best of the
older vitage viewers....with the Wollensak in a close second place. I am
not stating that what is writeen below is accurate...but only that is was
forwarded to me. Jon G

The TDC vivid viewer has APOCHROMATIC lenses , the highest category of
color corrected lenses.
The rest of our viewers (red button etc etc) have ACHROMAT
lenses, and are not color corrected for the 3 primary colors,
usually only corrected to a reasonable tolerance. Achromatis
obvviously work great and we can not see any color aberrations
through them. Apochromats are a step higher, so it's a better
lens that commands a premium price. This is especially needed
for enlarger lenses, but makes the TDC that much better.
