P3D Re: NSA workshops

Wow! Finally something that I really know about.

Prior to the 1997 convention in Bellevue, the workshops were primarily vendor
demonstrations. The ones at the 1996 Atlanta Convention were especially
well done. I was the workshops coordinator for 1997 and was fortunate to not
only have a very large slate of workshops, but to have another volunteer do a
parallel workshop on the Digital Theater. The workshops were continued in
1998, but the digital sessions weren't. This year I am in charge of the
workshops again and, unfortunately, the digital sessions are again missing
(due to my lack of diligent efforts).

Workshops overlap with projection and the trade show because people have
different interests and there is a lot to fit into a few days. My regret is
not that there is some overlap, but that this only about a 2-ring circus and
not a 4-ring convention. This is not a widely held opinion within the NSA
hierarchy.

If the NSA is going to be successful in the future, every attendee should
come away, regretting that some events were missed and vowing to return again
next year. If you can see everything that you want, someone else is going to
be bored.

If you would like to contribute to the scheduling conflicts, we have a few
more open workshop slots. Send me a note - you won't be in the convention
catalog, but you can be in the workshop schedule!
