P3D Don't Twin Elphs

Someone suggested twinning Canon Elph cameras. I think these cameras are
a poor choice. First, they are APS format and slide film is not
available. ( limited to prints only) The cameras are auto-focus with no
manual overides. There is a considerable delay between pressing the
shutter button, and the camera taking the picture....snyc will most
certainly be off most of the time. The infared remote control, while
offering respectable off axis firing, does not work well when the
cameras are mounted close together. Usually one sensor will be blocked.
( Unless the user wants to be in every photograph) The variable zooms
will do just that......vary from camera to camera. The focal markings on
the zoom barrels are not precise enough from camera to camera, so you
will risk viewing distortions as the subject size will vary between the
left and right image...not a good idea. One could probably design a
reflective mirror system to use the remote firing option effectively and
remain out of the cameras viewing range.......but why bother? They are
APS cameras. :-) Mark Dottle
