P3D Two Vivitar Cameras?

I was toying with the idea of buying two Vivitar 4000 cameras with 35-70
mm lenses to use as a stereo rig.  (Each camera $177 from Porter.)  I
would need to experiment to find the same focal length setting on each
lens, but I believe it could be done. Does anyone have experience with
this camera model?  I would like to find some 12 volt solenoids that I
saw mentioned elswhere that were used with two Pentax K1000 cameras. 
The solenoids were from a company called 'Radio Spares' in the UK.  The
six-digit part number listed, and the name, sound like a form of Radio
Shack.
