P3D Re: XA2's Underexposure
Mark,
This is the way it looks to me. If you changed something inside the camera
it would have the same effect as changing the film speed setting on the
outside. You will lose the depth of field either way. Might make you feel
better if the outside of the camera shows the right speed, but I don't
think it will change the actual exposure at all.
I've been thinking a lot about various combinations of cameras, etc.,
and although I have an XA2 and love its simplicity with the programmed
exposure, it seems to me an XA would be better--you set the aperture,
and let the camera choose the shutter speed. Of course it might not
be handholdable. :-) But at least you keep your DOF. However, I know XA's
have been known to give slightly different exposure between the left
and right cameras.
Personally, I'm getting fed up with my trying Kodachrome 64 again, after
using Kodachrome 200 almost exclusively for so long. All too often I'm
down to 1/4 of a second or something like that on my Olympus OM-10,
even at f/4. Yes, the 200 has more grain, but what use is it to go to the
64 if I have to drag a tripod along--not a real great option when you're
bicycling 38 miles with two kids! :-\
