It's hard to say, it all depends on the conditions before. The
longer the dark adaption, the longer the light adaption. Although
the photocell should light adapt much faster than the time it
takes to dark adapt. 16 hours should be plenty in moderate
sun light.

I take it, this means the subsequent shots were exposed properly,
or better? I admit it can get confusing with other variables such
as colors and such.
