I sent this message previously but I think it got lost.

I know this is not the answer to the question the writer posted regarding 
Realist to Viewmaster Conversion but I thought it is a related subject which 
might be interesting to Viewmaster fans.

Somewhere, deep in my archives, I have a manual issued by the Viewmaster 
people. At the time, they lent free lance photographers Realist cameras and 
sent the photographers out on a photo assignment.  The photos taken were 
ultimately to be used for production of a Viewmaster reel(s). The 
photographers were paid and the manual was a guide for taking the stereos.

If memory serves me, I believe that that part of the instructions told how to 
mask off an outline on the viewfinder of the Realist and keep the subject 
matter within the confines of the mask so that portion of the photo would be 
the suitable Viewmaster reel format.

If I can locate the guide, I will be glad to provide further information.
