You are correct, Mark, the full motor drives (5 fps nominal) were engineered 
for the OM-1/2/3&4's.  The OM-10 can accept the Winder 2 (nominally 3 fps, 
faster than most "winders").  Another potential advantage to the winder is 
that it accepts the electric cable release.  You can knock one together with 
off the shelf components from Radio Shack in any length you need, allowing 
you to place the camera further away from you.  Potential drawback is the 
noise.  Unless you can muffle it it is likely to spook them.
