P3D Mounting marathon almost over!
With 6 rolls to go, the end is near... I hope to finish
today. I have gotten some wonderful pictures... Enough
material to keep me going in 4 mail folios and two stereo
clubs for a few years... :-)
Sometimes I wonder... Who is to compliment here?
Is it me, or the wonderful places I visited?
I think it is both... When I am out shooting, my eyes and
brain are constantly working. Looking for the visual
appealing situation and the best way to capture it on
film. Especially in a place like Athens that I have
traveled by foot many times... I have taken most standard
shots and I am now looking for the unusual or a different
way to photograph familiar subjects. But even in Paris
or this island in the Ionian sea... Finding the best angle,
waiting for the best light... This is the photographer.
If you drop two photographers in the same location and let
them explore and take their pictures, some pictures will be
almost identical... A beautiful subject and the standard
way to photograph it. Others will vary and that's where
the photographer's ability, talent, creativity, will show.
I am not particularly creative or talented. About average
I would say... But the few years in stereo competitions have
taught me a great deal of what to look for. And then, there
are the assignments (both in Detroit and Cleveland). This
year I had three assignments in the back of my mind:
- Flowers
- Night photography
- Steps and Stairs
Instead of a close-up of a flower (which I am sure most people
will attempt for this subject), I went for the natural gardens
and flower arrangements I saw anywhere.
The steps and stairs was particularly successful. I have so
many good pictures, it will be hard to pick the best.
As DrDave says... That's it for now...
