P3D Re: Mounting marathon almost over!
Let me clarify something here... Here is what "mounting"
means for me at this stage: I cut the rolls, stick the
chips in Albion mounts, decide if the picture will go
in a 7p mount or 5p mount, preview with a viewer, adjust
the window and classify.
When I am done, I have all stereo pairs mounted correctly
in Albion mounts and separated by subject (location in this
case) and camera used (S1 or X4).
This is not a permanent mounting. For there I have the
following options:
- Leave the chips as-is in the Albion mounts. Tape them in
place with aluminum tape. Put in cardboard foldover or in
glass. This is what I used to do in the past. But times
have changed.... I will still do that and use cardboard
for a picture that has a great appeal in the viewer but
will never be projected or use glass for a really valuable
image. But now more and more I do this:
- Transfer the chips in RBT mounts. These will be projected,
used in competitions, entered in slide folios, etc. These
are the best pictures. Or:
- Transfer the chips in cardboard Spicer mounts. Nice memories,
routine shots, not exhibition material but still worth keeping.
So I still have a lot of work to do... This "mounting" that I
am doing now is really a glorified review process...
