I don't think they do.  If you disconnect the link and
put them each at one end, I think you will notice that
they are not matched as well as when they are linked.

Same is true for focus and apertures.  RBT has linked
them so they are matched.  Notice that one aperture
(master) clicks while the other (slave) does not.

George Themelis (still amazed at the concept of linked
zoom lenses on a stereo camera)...
