My second image " Regatta" looked beautiful!! The image was so colorful,
exposed perfectly and the composition could not have been better IMO. A
shot taken from a condo balcony overlooking the city along the river, as
fireworks were launched from the barges. I exposed several bursts using
the " black pillow Indian smoke signal" technique you may have read
about in my former postings. My admiration of this image was disturbed
when someone spoke up " Judges....judges! Your scores please!" In an
instant I interpreted this to mean.. " Judges, why the delay in scoring?
We've seen many fireworks in our day....and this is certainly one of
them! Now...the scores please!!" My instincts were correct! I was very
pleased with the score but I was left to ponder if the judges were so
awed by what they saw...so impressed that they were frozen in the 3rd
dimension just like the very photograph they are asked to score and were
rudely awakened....reminded by the voice that it was only fireworks
snapshot and nothing more. I believe this cost me that single point to
earn another first place.....I had to settle for second!!
Oh...and Dr.T? He entered A BOAT SHOT ON THE WATER!! From an exotic
land? Yes. Great colors? Yes. First place? YESSSS! #%**(*&^!!!
I sat up in my chair...........one image left to go.
