Sorry!  I thought the question was about *stereo* projectors. :-)

I think the question of choice of format is above the question of
stereo projection.  For example, for someone like myself who has
been always using stereo mounts and who participates in various
activities (PSA International Exhibitions, stereo clubs, SSA folios,
etc.) where 41x101 stereo mounts is the format of choice in slide 
film, I'd be hard pressed to switch formats now... So, 2x2 projectors
is not a choice for me... and I think for Lincoln too (who asked the
question).
