It sadens me to see 3-D photography or stereo movies, graphics, etc.
being used as a method of exploitation or as nothing but pure gimick.
I know that the "regular" people out there go for the gimick so I am
not supprised that it keeps happening. The following text is coppied
and pasted from ebay to here. I find it offensive and insulting:
---
Capture your family and friends in stunning 3D Stereo!! And remember:
Every stereo picture is a potential collectors item !! Buyers in 48
states pay $6 Shipping, Handling , Insurance.
BONUS!! BONUS!!
*Buyers will receive (via email) the INFORMATION-RICH 5-page paper "
How to Correctly Take Super Stereo Photographs!!"[ Copyright
1998/1999]> Where you'll quickly learn the, Easy-to-Understand,
"stacking" technique and the "linear" technique! Two necessary
techniques you'll need for taking the best 3D pictures ever!! ( the
stereographers of the past WISH they had had this information!!)
---
That last line is so lame. What makes this person think that "Every
stereo picture is a potential collectors item !! ". Is that because
some of us like to collect the 1950's slides? What the hell is "the
'linear' technique"? I think I can guess what "stacking" means, but to
call it a technique? I suppose I have not taken the best stereo
pictures since these techniques are necessary, and I haven't knowingly
used them.
Yuck, and shame on this person for putting up a bunch of these on ebay.
I don't think that the argus he is hocking is all that bad for a
beginer to fool around with. In fact a friend of mine got one after
seeing my pictures, and he has enjoyed it for the most part. But, to
act like this camera with there "techniques" will make you some kind of
superstar of 3-D is just sad.
