I may not be a world traveler, but I'm a world dabbler:-) I've been
working with tabletops using a 50mm f1.4, slidebar, and +1,+2 and +4
diopter close-up lenses. I am using my Minolta SLR with DOF preview. It
seems that my DOF is very shallow using the close-up lenses.( at f8-16)
How much better would a macro 50mm lens compare to what I am using now?
Greater DOF and edge to edge sharpness? I am trying to fill the frame
and attain a DOF from several inches from the camera to approx 12 inches
to the background. I've tried several hyperfocal settings and I'm very
close to success but I cannot seem to nail it right on. If I squash the
subject depth,I lose some depth impact. Any advise? Thanks.

Well Dr T, if I can't beat you on the table, I'll certainly drink you
under the table! :-) :-)
