P3D Road Trip

You are correct sir!  The sheer distance isn't so bad.  The problem is 
traffic.

I'm not exactly a wussy on the road either.  I drove a taxi for several 
summers in Manhattan back in the 70's.  The inevitable stop and go freeway 
jams in Los Angeles are very trying.  The first half of the trip in San Diego 
County with views of the Pacific can be quite pleasant.
