For more than just a couple viewers I would have suggested going with
something like the I-Art infrared glasses which are wireless and thus
can accommodate as many folks as you can stick in front of the monitor.
Their web presence is at http://www.iart3d.com/iart/iarte/home/home.htm

Alternatively, you could check into something along the lines of a
stereoscopic projector such as the ones peddled by Vrex at
http://www.vrex.com/index.html but that might be more pricey a solution
than what you wanted. I've never seen one in action but the concept
sounds so neat, takes your interlaced image and rather than sending it
out as for a shutter glasses system, it polarizes the images making it
possible for them to be projected onto a screen and the audience (as
large as you like) watches with cheap polarized glasses.

As to the electronics of your specific problem . . . no clue. Someone
else probably will respond to a work around if there is one.

good luck
