P3D Disagreeing (was: Some Observations Top10)
Hi Dave!
>When you hold a position of leadership and authority in a field,
>as you do in the 3d community, generalizations can be harmful.
This has been pointed by others in different occasions and it is
a bit of a problem from me... because 1) I post quickly and by
impulse 2) I enjoy pushing an extreme view for the fun of it :-) to
pull the best (or worse :-) :-))out of others. Other photo-3d
members post less often, put more thought into their writings and
claim to be "ambassadors of 3d"... but not me!!!
>It's been an honor disagreeing with you!
Great! You did a good job and I agree 100% with what you
(and others) said!
And this is correct:
>I do see this on occasion, and in my experience it is usually from the
>high speed mass production run processors from the big labs like Fuji...
I used the local drug store and they use Fuji. Why drug store? Well,
they are next to work (I can walk there), they are cheap and in the
past I have gotten very good results from them. The issue of reliable
photo-finishing is very important in the stereo community because of
the extra emphasis on sharpness and matching exposures we demand.
Unfortunately, the fact that I have no control over the final results
prevents me from getting into the stereo print area... One day I might
be motivated to look around carefully for a lab that will consistently
give me good results. It is either that or doing my own B&W or color
processing, something that is not likely to happen in a wet darkroom,
but quite possibly via the computer/digital route.
Dave, it's been an honor agreeing with you!
