P3D ISU Congress

Having just returned from Linday, Germany, I wanted to share with members of
this list my first thoughts. More complete reports from other participants
will surely follow in a short time.
First, let me tell you that as a quite a recent member of ISU this was my
first ISU Congress and I was impressed by the truly professional work done
by the german organization: everything was well planned, projections were
flawless -except for the sum of technical difficulties that somewhat
affected Saturday evening shows- , and Lindau demonstrated to be a right
choice to hold the event.
Level of shows was quite high with a handful of truly breathtaking works.
For me these were the winners:
- Full Colour Movement, by Wim van Egmond (Holland). An amazing essay with
colour. Long time exposures and computer manipulated models in a very well
thought program.
- Parvis, by Charles Couland (France). Charles is best known by his macro
pictures (he also designed a very interesting device to take such pictures)
but this time modern architecture was his chosen subject. Using dissolves he
creates a show that is a true visual threat. Unmissable.
- Day of the Dead, by Robert Bloomberg (USA). I think you must know Bob's
work. This was the first time I saw it. Good pictures, Bob's own music and
an impeccable rithm. A delight.
- The Kitchen Sink, by Dwight Cummings (USA). Oooh, my god! This was really
terrific. It has rithm, personality, wit. A delightful and funny story. See
it whenever you can.
- Nocturnal Moments, by Lynn Hyman Butler (USA). The most magical,
misterious and somewhat scary program shown in Lindau. I loved it. Lynn's
work is so unique it left audience mesmerized. A few inkjet vectograhs by
Lynn were also at display during the Congress.
- Recondite Armonie, by Eugenio Andrighetto (Italy). This is an Audio-
Visual show produced for the Visionarium in Italy. It was so well produced
and planed that audience reacted with enthousiasm at its ending. Very good
3D photography, nice music. A must see.
Many other show were of remarcable quality. I wouldn't forget the last one:
ISU 2001: Sidney, Australia. Produced by David Stuckey, it was a great
teaser for the next ISU Congress, with magnificent pictures taken by our
Australian fellows.
Lindau was also a nice opportunity to meet with other 3-D nuts. I had the
delight to meet in person for the first time with such wonderful people like
Jeroen deWijs, Sylvain Arnoux, Alex Klein, Coen Holten, Wim van Egmond,
David E. Klutho, Robert Bloomberg, David Stuckey, Jan Burandt and my amigo
Jon Golden (Hola Jon!). And of course my friends from the EuroStereo
Foundation in Barcelona. Love you friends!... See you in Sidney, Australia
2001!
