You must remember, however, that in Van Gogh's time, a lot of his art and
that of his collegues were considered trash.  (some still do)  A lot of the
brash colours used by artist at that time arose out of new paint pigments,
developed, through technology.

But you must admit, in the hands of someone capable, technology frees the
"artist" from the "burden" of the mechanics of taking a picture.  After
all, a camera is only a tool used to make pictures.  How many times have
you pressed the shutter button on a Realist, but realised that yo forgot to
cock the shutter!  doh!
