Hi, all-
Recently I rewound a roll of Kodachrome 64 in my Realist, and discovered to
my horror that my previously spotless and gleaming take-up reel was now
covered with a thick coating of dusty white corrosion where the film leader
had made contact. I had never had this problem before- has Kodak recently
changed the chemistry of Kodachrome such that it reacts with the metal on
the Realist? A friend of mine just bought a (heavily used) Realist that had
the same corrosion when he received it. What's going on here? How do I
clean this gunk off, and restore the finish? Is my wonderful, snazzy camera
now doomed?
