1350 mAHh NiMH are common and cheap now, at least from mail order
sources. About $2.00 to $2.50 per cell.

Its not so much the higher current, but the different behavior of
the cell as it approaches full charge. The better chargers sense the
way the voltage across the cell changes as it charges, and know when
to stop the full charge current. As mentioned elsewhere, overcharging
is the surest way to shorten the life of NiMH cells.

Try http://thomas-distributing.com/, they have 550 mAh AAA cells, and
good prices and good products. The folks on rec.photo.digital have
only good things to say about them, as is my experience.
