P3D Non-Stereo VM reel- On Purpose!

I recently purchased a Viewmaster reel with scenes from Mary Poppins.
It was advertised correctly as having 14 non-stereo pictures.
Obviously, this was only to be used in the cheaper 2D projectors.

Does anyone know whether or not View Master made other reels like this?  And
how did they distribute them?
