Asking for feedback from this group is always a good
idea. Thanks to feedback from Allan Woods I looked
further into using the JPS files. Many of you no
doubt remember the thread on Photo-3d about the pros
and cons of using Andreas Petersik's Java applet
"Stereoscope". It lets you use just one JPS file to
present your stereo images in a variety of formats.
Unfortunately Java is not as universally supported as
Sun Microsystems would have liked.

In earlier versions of my web pages I supported multiple
stereo formats with multiple files. Now I've just about
run out of web space so I converted to relying on
Stereoscope.

Allan wrote to say that he doesn't use DepthCharge or
Stereoscope and felt that he couldn't see the images
except in anaglyph. So I looked into the possibility of
displaying JPS files as JPEG. I suppose some of you already
knew this, as it turns out it isn't difficult to do.
All you need to do is specify the file type in the HTML tag.

<IMG SRC="filename.jps" type="image/jpeg">

It works in Internet Explorer and Netscape.
So I'll be adding direct support for cross
eyed viewing very soon. I'll have separate buttons
for Stereoscope Applet, Cross eyed, Anaglyph, and
DepthCharge. By using just two files, an anaglyph and
a JPS, you can offer many ways of viewing stereo images.
