P3D Re: Alternative Content

Thanks Al... now I understand.

>Subject, social-context, cultural intent - that is disturbing to
>the norm is a form of 'alternative content'.

OK. I would still like to know why those under 26 would be more
likely attracted to "alternative content 3D" rather than more
traditional 3D.

I would imagine there is a lot of illegal, immoral and distrurbing
activities happening in a place like Las Vegas. Who says you have
to point your camera only at what is acceptable, legal or non-
intrusive? That's what the casino owners would like you to do,
but do you really have to do that?

Can someone explain to me (personal email if not 3D related) WHAT the
heck is this "BURNING MAN"???

>The Burning Man images Harold put up represent content that is

What Harold does with his web page and is discussed in this list are
two different matters. No one has stopped anyone to discuss the
content of stereo photography, as long as it is about stereo.
If people don't want to discuss these issues, then it is their own
problem. (Same goes to those who think there is too much slide
photography talk and not much print photography talk... The doors
are open for more print talk if there is an interest).

I remember seeing some of Harold's pictures earlier and I did think I
was seeing something distrurbing. Now, Harold happened to be in a
place where weird things are happening. He thinks that whatever is
happening is worth recording in film. What is his contribution in
"shaking up the norm", other than recording what he is seeing? Maybe
he even has a professional interest in what is taking place there.
Also Harold is the President of the Oakland stereo club. I would imagine
he has shown some of his "Burning Man" images in his club?

>One of the purposes of art is to 'shake up the norm' (and not just make

I guess someone could start an "alternative content stereo club" and
then hope for some customers to show up... Or, an "alternative content
3D" mailing list... I don't think stereo clubs should be places where "art"
is exhibited. I just go to see pretty pictures. :-)
