While I agree with *everything else* that Boris wrote, I tend to
think that this example is rather unfortunate:

The portrait is a very distortion-sensitive subject and needs to
be treated with a lot of respect.  Better safe than sorry.  Less
is almost always better.  Most stereo photographers would use
longer lenses (to keep them further away from the subject) or
use a smaller base with a rather short lens.  Besides, do we
really need to know how far the nose sticks out of the face?
