P3D viewer tripod sockets

I was surprised to see that most of the viewers that Dr. T
showed me last night had tripod sockets. I can see, though,
that it could be a good thing. My homemade tabletop viewer
usually gets used just that way--sitting on a stationary
object. I found out right away that for me it was a nicer
viewing experience because the table top was steadier than
my hand! :-) Of course it's decidedly unhandy for passing
around. I have had pairs of people sitting side by side and
taking turns looking.
Although I was really impressed with the DeWijs viewers, the
Realist Red Button was still a standout, and of course is
illuminated. I preferred it to all the rest of the viewers.
It is so handy, and has such good optics and illumination
(as modified by Dr. T, of course! :-) ).
I do have a "Themelized" beamsplitter viewer, too, and use it
when portability is paramount, as on a recent trip where I had
to pack light. But it doesn't have a tripod socket. 8-(
