I think this is a valid concern, but still not worth worrying about too
much. As we all know, the technology that exists now, will probably not be
as good as the technology that will exist a few years from now. And that
will not be as good as what exists 5 years down the road. Regardless of how
good technology might be, there will always be something better, if trends
hold true in the coming decades.

This leaves you with a big problem, if you are a worryier.... no matter
what you do, you will never stay ahead of the technology. If you want to
scan all of your stereo slides with the latest and greatest, you will never
have any rest, for you will always be scanning and worrying about what's
down the road next year. The simple fact is, there will always be something
better.

I must ask why you want to scan everything in your collection?
