P3D military binoculars

Peter Abrahams guesses that the mysterious device I saw was a military
rangefinder. I dont thinks so, although perahps it could be *part* of a
system. It did say 'stereo attachment' on it, on a little brass plate. 
Optically, it looked like it would attach to a lens, like a beamsplitter.
(i once saw a naval rangefinder that had a base of a couple of feet, it
was pretty cool, and expensive..)
