Sounds like it might work, but I'm not sure of the utility.

There would be only one position of the "manual" knob that
would correspond with proper exposure of the film, and that
position would be presumably the same that the already existing
"automatic" needle would select.  What would be nice is to modify
it to make the unit work in aperture priority mode instead of
"fixed shutter, settable f/stop" mode.  :-)

P.S. - Wish I could find what I did with my FED's lens shades
       so I could use it on my Sputnik (which has been my 
       most used stereo camera since getting a Saturn Kit --
       still unassembled :-).
