THE JIG IS UP

Well Mark, heres my mounting history which may offer some perspective,

Once upon a time 5 years ago when the Sigma mounts disappeared and my
stash was depleted (still have 50 actually) my mounting became a chore. My
cameras gathered dust, I shot rolls that did not get developed for months or
years. When they would get developed I didn't even recognize my kids. I
would roll them back up, uncut, and store them away. I... .I.... I....quit
the Photo-3D list. I lost interest. I slowly slipped into a 3D void.
Professional help, counseling, prescription drugs, nothing helped. Then I
finally re subscribed to the list. I saw a RBT mount. Could not believe
it!!!!. The precision, the engineering, but.... but I'm on a budget. So I
seached the archives. Entered "mounting" read and read and read. Ah Ha!!
There had been something going on while I was away. The RBT jig. I could get
the precision of an RBT in an inexpensive cardboard mount. I read that you
had to do a hand gymnastics to do it but I would give it a try. Then on the
list was the web site of the Austrailian club. An illistrated course on the
RBT jig. Mounting for the dexterity challenged, It was fate! I bought some
RBT mounts, I bought some Spicer
cardboard mounts, I bought the Weis tabs and the metal tape, and a little
lightbox too. I was determined to be a professional 3D mounter" I exclaimed.
Well, I am amazed how
easy mounting is again. I look forward to it (sort of) I'm shooting film
like mad! I'm spending too much on Ebay. My wife is worried about making the
mortgage. Its great!! ITS FUN AGAIN.......I'M BACK! :>)

Back to the subject at hand.
This has been covered before but here is the illustrated site for using the
RBT Jig.

Baize on the photo-3d Internet email list."

uses the outside edge of the Spicer to line up the jig. Requires less
dexterity.

uses the inside fold of the Spicer to line up the jig.

Cleanliness and God-ly-ness
Wash your hands with some great spelling soap, set the lights low, turn on
your 5000K light box, plug in your viewer-by-george, get out you film cutter
and your little sorting box (fly tackle box) and fire up the old stereo. Its
Show time!

Finding Time
Another story (especially since I have the pitter patter of little feet
around my house), but when it is easier, time seems to bubble up.

A final word and ...............Thanks
I am sure my mounting techniques at times are not up to competition quality
but I sure enjoy the view.
I am thankful for this list and the many points of view and tips I get here.
Without this list I would not enjoy this hobby as much as I do. The RBT Jig
is just one of the things I have discovered here.
