P3D Film Overlap

I suppose I should have known that I couldn't hold my little Realist
completely at fault for the recent problems I have been having. Let me tell
you what I have found and what I suspect with regards to my image overlap
problem. Got another roll of film back from the lab today and unfortunately
not a single pair on the roll that I cared to mount. Most were just mediocre
pictures but a quite a few suffered from the overlap problem, some as much as
1perf! The roll in question was shot before I took time to lubricate the
cameras inner workings. Before the lubrication I had noticed that the film
advance seemed stiff, and so I was putting a little more muscle than normal
into each advance. So on todays roll not only were there overlaps, but in at
least three places I could see where the film sprockets were stressed. So I
sat down with my trusty Dr T Realist books and started from the beginning to
try and decide what I could be doing wrong. It didnt take long for me to find
what I believe to be the problem. I had been in the habit of advanceing the
film by pressing the film advance button with my right thumb, releasing it, th
en advancing the film. This rather than follow the good Dr's clear
instruction to hold the button in for the first quarter turn of the knob, a
two handed operation! Although I haven't run a roll of film through the
camera since enlightening myself I am sure that merely following the
instructions as written will at least minimize the problem. I will be sure
and report back my findings, hopefully this will solve the problem.
