A reintroduction and aloha.from Mililani Town.. Returned from the
planar "parallel universe" of photo.net,gents.. Aloha to Bob, George,
and especially Greg who updated my e-mail address for me to rediscover
this site. And a hello again to all you two eyed savants. I hope to
contribute eventually, once I start shooting in depth again and feel
re-qualified to chitchat....My immediate need is to get some cleaning
and adjustment of my two f 2.8 Realists. ( Yep, I 'm the one who got
Franklin Flocks's German lens model when he upgraded to
Belplasca, remember?). I also still have my Olden model- bought new so
that dates me-I'm a grandpa- it has a bit of minor lens gunk, not
fatal.I mean its Hawaii after all. Tropical humidity.. Both need a
little routine sprucing up,CLA, and maybe lens disassembly for the Olden
model (hopefully it will take single lens element cleaning without
problem) and recondition to tighter specs or so I was once advised. (
Zack was the one who said it was the sweep the closet model that he
usually needed to rebuild to better specs. Regardless it always
performed fine in the past). Would someone maybe take the time to e-mail
me privately with your own personal recommendation and recent experience
on where to send both cameras on the mainland for TLC attention. Cost is
less important to me than the result. I have used that Olden model for
30 years and hope to pass it on to my son one day... I just last week
saw my first LCD shutter IMAX at the Metreon in San Francisco. Wow. What
a blast. Anyway, this forum feels like home again, despite my density
about topics like white LEDs... PS. Thanks, George for that repair job
on the Revere 22 you did. I use it a lot to look at my treasured slides.
Hope to hear from anyone here on ANY mainland technician you think does
quality work on the 2.8 Realist. (Only part I THINK I need is one lens
lid and even Dahlia has those.)
