One thing is for sure, if you are careful and learn what you are doing, you can
get good results at home. Tens of thousands of people do. I think the $60,000
machine is consistent as long as the people running it are consistent. Chemicals
replaced after each run? That's what I do with black and white developers. I
always use a one-shot system and if anything, that increases consistency, not
lessens it.
